Environmental acoustics

Noise in the environment can have far-reaching and sometimes costly implications for any significant construction project.

Housing developers need to ascertain noise levels if they are planning to build near a road, factory or airport. Conversely, a factory owner or airport authority must assess the effects on local communities of an expansion of existing facilities.

Red Acoustics has built a solid reputation for providing expert professional advice and achieving tangible, cost–effective solutions, which is underscored by our wide-ranging project experience and diverse client base.

Our specialist engineers are fully qualified and extensively experienced in providing noise consultancy services to evaluate environmental impacts across a broad raft of industry sectors.

Noise monitoring and assessments enable project-specific criteria to be accurately assessed.

Our unambiguous reports and open dialogue with project managers mean we have strategic involvement at an early stage, which helps to avoid unnecessary costs further down the line.

Our environmental acoustics services include:

  • Noise & Vibration Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA)
  • Noise monitoring
  • Wind Farm Noise Impact Assessments (ETSU R97)
  • Outdoor Noise Propagation using sophisticated computer modelling techniques
  • Planning Application Noise & Vibration Surveys
  • Noise pollution modelling
  • Industrial noise monitoring & assessments
  • Sporting event noise
  • Building Services Noise Impact Assessments
  • Concert noise monitoring
  • PPG24 Assessments
  • TAN11 Assessments
  • Assessments in accordance with BS8233
  • Micro-Wind Turbine Noise Impact Assessments in accordance with DCOG criteria

Our professionally seasoned engineers use CadnaA noise modelling software to evaluate outdoor noise and provide professional design advance at early planning stages. CadnaA is a software program that predicts and assesses noise levels near:

  • Roads, railways and airports
  • Wind farms
  • Sport and leisure facilities including pubs and clubs and outdoor events
  • Industrial facilities
  • Other noise sources including ventilation plant

The program simulates the configuration of landscapes with all components that influence sound output. It then calculates and documents the noise levels in accordance with national regulations, and presents the results with noise contour plots and coloured noise maps to enable clear presentation for client and public authorities.
